Nick Ahad

Runner-Up of the Red Planet ITV Prize 2020 (out of 1280 entries) Nick is now developing a series with them. He is also working with Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (Sister Pictures) on a greenlit series for BBC1 Primetime. Formerly a scriptwriter/storyliner for Emmerdale, and a BBC Northern Voice, Nick is a prolific playwright. Leeds Playhouse produced his drama Blue Envelopes with RSC director Iqbal Khan and The Rifco Theatre commissioned a full-length comedy from him. His 15 minute, 5-episode audio drama was broadcast Autumn 2020 on the Claybody Theatre website. Nick co-wrote and directed 4-part comedy Unmbreen's Junction for BBC Radio, starring Reece Dinsdale. Glory, produced by the Dukes Theatre/Red Ladder/Tamasha, had 4-star reviews and toured UK-wide Feb-April. Multi award-winning play The Chef Show (Ragged Edge Productions) has had 3 nationwide tours and Nick's musical Redcoats for Mikron Theatre toured extensively in 2019. Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the partition of India, he wrote he write Partition for BBC Radio Leeds and Leeds Playhouse before a major schools tour. Nor Any Drop was produced by Peshkar and Red Ladder and his first play as writer and director was A Muslamic Love Story, premiered at Bradford's Theatre In The Mill 2012. Arts editor of the Yorkshire Post for 10 years, Nick is a journalist/theatre critic and regular presenter for BBC Radio Leeds.
